UNESCO Chair on Geodiversity and Geoconservation

ProGEO is one of the 12 partners of this new UNESCO Chair, which is hosted at the University of Minho in Portugal (https://geodiv-unesco.uminho.pt). The Chair will promote the establishment of a global research and cooperation network (North-South and South-South), with the aim of facilitating the exchange of knowledge and expertise among relevant stakeholders. The Chair will also provide training to managers of protected areas and UNESCO sites, with the objective of enhancing their competencies and skills in this field. Furthermore, the Chair will undertake the task of drafting guidelines and best practices in this area, with a focus on promoting awareness of society regarding the significant geodiversity that is often overlooked.
